COPA AMERICA 2016: 4th JUNE RESULTS

 

There were three matches on Saturday night of COPA AMERICA CENTANERIO 2016. From group A Costa Rica took on Latin side Paraguay. Other two matches were from group B, where CONCACAF side Haiti took one Peru in their first ever COPA match and in the other match Latin Giant Brazil faced Ecuador.

Costa Rica vs. Paraguay: Both the two sides of Group A failed to secure a win in their opening match of COPA AMERCIA 2016 campaign. The defensive lines of the both teams were completely solid and both the goalkeepers of the two teams Justo Villar and Patrick Pemberton had safe hands below the post. At the last moment of blowing whistle, Costa Rica got a blow as their Kendall Watson was sent off due to his reckless and brutal tackle on Nelson Valdez.

Haiti vs. Peru: Haiti failed to start their first ever COPA match with a win as they were defeated by Peru with a 0-1 defeat. Though this CONCACAF side was really impressive in the ground throughout the match, but their forwards couldn’t manage to send the ball to the opponent’s net for a single time. Peru’s key player of the match P. Guerrero scored the only goal of the night at 61st minute.

Brazil vs. Ecuador: It was predicted earlier that this match wouldn’t be an easy one for the injury blown Brazilian side and as predicted, top favorite Brazil failed to start their match with any win. Dunga started the lineup of this match with a 4-3-3 formation keeping Jonas as the solo striker while the EPL stars Willian and Coutihno at the two wing positions. But all the players were completely failed to make any impressive attempt on the goal line and score any single goal in the match. Ecuador’s goalkeeper Dreer was top of his form in the night as he spoiled all the efforts of the Brazilian side with some outstanding saves. Brazil might also blame their luck as they managed to score one by Allison, but it was dismissed by the assistant referee.
